Loretta Virginia Plumlee

October 12, 1931 ~ July 22, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Loretta Virginia (Harrison) Plumlee was born on October 12, 1931 and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2017. Loretta was born to Grady Wade and Ora Belle (French) Harrison. On November 2, 1956 she married Louis Plumlee in Clovis, New Mexico. The two settled in Tuttle, Oklahoma where they raised three children. On August 8, 1981 Louis lost his battle with brain cancer.
Loretta worked in healthcare for many years. She drove from Tuttle to Oklahoma City daily to help her mother with her in-home nursing home. As a nurse aide, Loretta went to school to become a L.P.N. at the age of 48, taking Muff (Amy) with her to classes at Oklahoma City Community College.
Loretta’s career began at Tuttle Care Center. There was not a position there that she didn’t fill at one time or another. She always just did whatever needed to be done. Loretta started work as a CNA and went on to be a CMA, LPN, Activities/Social Services Director, assistant administrator and administrator. Her service to Tuttle Care Center spanned over 21 years.
She retired in 1998 for a short time. She went back to work as an Administrator working at several homes “cleaning them up”. She would say, “They hate to see me coming!” She retired as an administrator at the age of 82 in February of 2014.
She enjoyed retirement very much. It gave her a lot more time to spend with her family, especially her grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. She was always ready to go shopping or out to eat with her sister and brother-in-law, “Tilly and John Brown.” Also, she loved being driven to Walmart and the beauty shop by her niece, Becky. She was very thankful to her niece Barbie for taking care of “the girls” Rebel and Cricket when she was away.
Loretta Virginia Plumlee was the matriarch of this family. She will be incredibly missed by more than just her own family. Loretta raised many others putting them through school, and giving them a place to call home. She often packed up and went to ball games, sitting right behind home plate telling the umpires and coaches how things should be.
People in town often asked her how many grandchildren she had. They would say, “Every kid in town calls you grandma.” Loretta took great pride and pleasure in being able to help raise Amy Lynn and Ginger Ann. She had a heart of gold and enough love to spread around.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Amy Snow and husband Earl of Enid Ginger Reinoehl and husband Tony of Tuttle, Amanda Rose and husband Jerry of Wichita Falls, TX, Josh Jones of OKC, Melissa Jones, Ethan Plumlee and wife Ashley of Blanchard, and Kenser Plumlee of Tuttle; great grandchildren: Lisa Jines and husband Chaeton from Blanchard, Sarah Crumpler and husband Tracy from Enid, Sami Martin and husband Isaiah from Tuttle, Matthew Stiers from Enid, Dalton, Dakota, and Dillin Snow from Enid, Makenzie Belle and Madi Grace Reinoehl from Tuttle, Candace and Kaylee Rose from Wichita Falls, Texas; great grandchildren: Anita Lynn Martin from Tuttle, Talon Lee Crumpler from Enid, Meagan Crumpler, Unity Snow, Mone’t, Chae Chae and Zaine Jines; sister, Verla Berryman and husband Duane of Moore; and best friend of 73 years, Donna Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Wade Harrison and Ora Belle Chapman; brothers, Virgil Wayne Harrison and Grady Wade Harrison; sister-in-law, Rita Joyce Harrison; Husband, Louis Edward Plumlee; and children, Belinda Belle McKinney, Timothy Louis Plumlee, and John Wayne Jones.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 23 from 4pm-8pm, as well as Monday and Tuesday, July 24 and 25, from 8am-8pm. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held 2pm Wednesday in the Chapel at Resthaven. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, OK.
