Tribute

Jay Keith Shepherd entered his heavenly home on April 9, 2024. He was born August 28, 1963 in Pauls Valley, OK to Donald and Dixie Shepherd. Jay grew up in southeast Oklahoma City, and graduated from Southeast High School in 1981. He was awarded a baseball scholarship,  and attended college at Rose State for two years before transferring to East Central University in Ada to play baseball. He then went on to work at Mathis Brothers, and also spent time working for Cox and FedEx. He ultimately made his career at MTM Recognition (Midwest Trophies) and worked there until his passing. Jay married Michelle Joyner on May 20, 2012. From this marriage they were blessed with a blended family and loved every moment of it together. Their love was special.  Jay was an all-around sports fanatic. He loved the Minnesota Vikings, the Chicago Cubs, the OKC Thunder and his OU Sooners. He had a passion for music, and absolutely loved music of all genres. He also cherished sunrises, and watching them on the beach with Michelle. Above all, Jay adored his family. He was an amazing human being that truly lit up any room he walked into. He always had a smile on his face and a contagious laugh that was unforgettable. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally, and enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball and basketball. His happy place was at Lake Texoma with his family, and there were many amazing memories made there over the years. Jay will be missed beyond measure.
He was preceded in passing by his first wife, Karan Shepherd; and his grandparents, Rubby and Jimmy Fogle.
Those left to continue his legacy include his wife, Michelle Shepherd; his parents, Don and Dixie Shepherd; daughter, Gabby Jones and husband Levi; sons, Justin Joyner, Skyler Romo and spouse Balvina, and Phoenix Baird; his bonus kids, Steven and Joshua Joyner, and Brittany Montoya; brother, Terry Shepherd and wife Nancy; granddaughters, Addison Jones, Ava Jones, and Annie Jones. And a special cousin Johnny Fogle. Jay is also survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving extended family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
