Yolanda D. Ballesteros

October 30, 1941 ~ June 11, 2022 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Yolanda Dorothy Ballesteros, age 80, of Oklahoma City, OK went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2022. Yolanda was born October 30, 1941, in Oklahoma City to Elmer M. Hames and Mabel Dorothy Hames. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and later was married for 21 years to Wayland “Bud” Tabor. They were blessed with two children. Years later, as she was walking across the dance floor in a popular local dance club, she caught the eye of Ricardo and they married in 1985 and remained lovingly together until her death.

Yolanda had a 20 year career in banking at Oklahoma National Bank (ONB) in Capitol Hill District and later City National Bank. She enjoyed her job and formed numerous lifelong friendships. She retired from ONB in 1985 and immediately pursued her own business and love for antiques, and arts and crafts with her husband. They continued their business “Rustic Country” up until shortly before she passed away.

Yolanda was dedicated to her family members and had a unique ability to seek and find any items (big or small) any family member was searching for. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She enjoyed painting, gardening, interior design, movies, music, and her favorite pastime, looking for bargains in thrift stores and enjoying her daily Sonic Coca-Cola. She had an uncanny ability to turn a $5 item into a $50 gem. She had a fun hearted spirit and an amazing sense of wit and humor. Yolanda wanted everyone to know she had a fun, not a boring life!

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her husband, Ricardo A. Ballesteros who cared for her tirelessly especially in the last few years of her life; son, Todd and wife Jennifer Tabor of Moore, OK, daughter, Laura Tabor Foree and Phillip Roop of Yukon, OK, son and daughter in-law Joshua and Kristen Ballesteros and daughter, Shannon of Edmond, OK, son Rick Ballesteros, of Virginia; grandchildren, Brittany Mulcare and husband Tom of Rogers, AR, Andrew Branam-Drock of Colorado Springs, CO, Brock and Emily Ballesteros, and great-grandchildren, Landon Roberts, Kaden Mulcare, Marley Mulcare and soon to be new arrival, River Mulcare; brothers, Rex Hames and sister-in-law Leila, and Ken Hames all of Oklahoma City, nephew Hayden Hames of Yukon and numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Mabel of Oklahoma City, and niece, Stephanie Hames of Colorado Springs, Co.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the family room at Resthaven Funeral Home located at 500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, Ok 73139 on July 9th, 2022 from 12-2pm.
