Wilma Pojezny

Wilma Mae Pojezny, 96, passed into heaven on December 4, 2019. She was born July 16, 1923 in Wagner, South Dakota, and moved to Oklahoma City early in her childhood where she attended Central High School then Business school. She met Fred Pojezny and they married in 1944 and settled in Oklahoma City after living a short time in Seattle. She was an active member of First Christian Church and a devoted 50 year volunteer at Baptist Hospital. Wilma enjoyed her active lifestyle being a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was an avid golfer, excellent bridge player, superb needlepoint artist and reluctant fisherwoman, as she and Fred would travel to Lake Eufaula most weekends to “catch the big one.”

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Wagers (Lance) and her son Carl (Patti); her grandchildren: Greg Lasseter (Katie), Bryan Lasseter (Fred), Loraine Wagers, Leni Wagers, Michael Pojezny (Michaela), Jill Bunch (Adam) and Kevin Pojezny (Ashley). Her great grandchildren are Ryan, Rachael and Laura Pojezny, Gavin and Jacob Stephens, Emery and Sarah Lasseter, and Jade, Jaden and Jaylen McBrown.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred and their oldest daughter Barbara.

Wilma has lived at the Fountains of Canterbury since 1998 moving through the continuum of care of independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Her family is grateful for the excellent and loving care she received all her years at Canterbury and her wonderful friends she made there.

The family will hold a memorial service for Wilma at 1:00pm, December 17, 2019 at Fountains at Canterbury Chapel, 1404 N.W. 122nd St. Oklahoma City. Memorial contributions can be made in Wilma's name to Village United Methodist Church, 2501 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73120.
