William Harry Russell Jr. "Sonny"

William Harry Russell, Jr. “Sonny”, passed from this life July 3, 2019 in Oklahoma City at the age of 79. He was born October 24, 1939 in Oklahoma City to William Harry Russell, Sr. and Celia Evelyn Barnes Russell.
Sonny worked as a computer programmer after obtaining an associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering and another in Computer Science. He retired from Lucent Technologies. In addition, Sonny proudly served his county in the Air National Guard from 1960 to 1966. His favorite hobby was collecting miniature trains and trainsets. In addition, he had a passion for metropolitan cars.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; and sister, Lowana Rae McCurdy Friday.
Survivors include his nephews, Russ Friday and wife Teresa of Moore and Rex Friday and wife Cathy of Choctaw; and uncle, JR. Barnes of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by other loving extended family and friends.
Services are 10:00am, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Chapel at Resthaven, 500 SW 104 St. Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Condolences may be shared at www.ResthavenOkc.com.
