William “Neal” Carrick entered his Heavenly home March 23, 2021. He was born November 15, 1937
In Wister, Oklahoma to Bertie Lee Carrick and Pauline (Ritter) Carrick.
Neal was raised in Howe, Oklahoma by his grandparents and attended Howe High School; graduating in 1955.
He started selling early in his life at about age 10, selling garden seeds and Cloverine salve door to door. Over the years, he sold steel, road machinery, garden equipment, tires, and semi trucks.
He retired from Rush Truck Company after 40 years selling Peterbilt Trucks. He was one of the nation’s top 10 Peterbilt salesmen for many years and was top salesman in the nation in 2011. He loved his customers and they loved him.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Tarlton on May 18, 1957. Neal and Shirley have been active members of Oakcrest Church of Christ for more than 40 years.
Neal’s hobbies included golfing, cooking, gardening and watching his grandsons play sports. Neal loved God, he adored his family and loved spending time with them. He cooked for Mobile Meals for many years, making Turkey and Dressing every Thanksgiving. He loved to cook and he was well known for his pies.
He was a member of the USAF Reserve and was called to active duty January 20, 1961 during the Berlin Crisis when President John F. Kennedy said these famous words: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your Country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. When they started calling units for active duty, Neal’s unit, the 305th at Tinker AFB, was selected. Neal served his country with honor; He was a proud American.
He was preceded in passing by his grandparents, Samuel C. and Mabel Ritter; parents Bertie Lee Carrick and Pauline Carrick Henry; son-in-law Michael Tiderman and grandson Justin Blake Tiderman.
Those left to continue his legacy include his loving wife, Shirley Ann Carrick, son Michael Neal, daughter Kimela Tiderman-Alcorn and husband Darrell, grandsons Josh and Jace Tiderman.
Visitation for Neal is 3:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Services are Monday, March 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakcrest Church of Christ.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
