William Scott Burkhead

April 29, 1953 ~ November 26, 2022 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

William Scott Burkhead born April 29, 1953 in Washington D.C to Robert (deceased) and Anna (Dhority) Burkhead He passed away November 26, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 69 after battling liver disease for several years.

He graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia Missouri. He served 2 years in the US Marine Corp. Scott loved to race motorcycles in his younger years. Scott had many jobs in his life. He was a nurse tech in nursing home (oh how he loved the elderly), drove an ambulance for Metropolitan Ambulance Service in Amarillo in the 1970’s and was a self-employed house painter for many years but the job that meant the most to him was working at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, in maintenance. He felt like that was a calling and found such peace and joy and closeness to the Lord by helping maintain the Lord’s House. He drove the van for Impact for several years and would tell me how much fun he had doing that and how much he regretted having to give it up because of his health. Scott was very much a people person and loved talking to everyone. He’d sit outside and greet all the neighbors and if given the opportunity would always tell people how much he loved the Lord. He loved to call his nieces and nephews in Missouri and would always say Love You Infinity Plus before they could say it. He loved his mama and his sisters dearly. His favorite thing in the past few years with his health declining was his little dog Amos. He and Amos knew every dog in the neighborhood. They would even go to visit some of his church friends in the nursing home.

He married Debbie (Bernius) on October 25, 2004 in Missouri.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Ollie and Estelle Dhority, sisters Sherry Schwermer and Lola Schumaker step father Marvin Benitz, brother in laws Buck Venable and Leroy Schumaker and nephew Paul Schwermer.

He is survived by his wife Debbie, step son Jason Scott (Jessica), his precious grandson Atlas of Colorado. His mother Anna Benitz of Missouri, Sisters Angela (Buck) Venable, Cindy Templeton (Dan Baker), Shelia (Mike) Patton all of Missouri step brothers Doug Benitz, Mark Benitz, Larry Benitz and step sister Ginny Benitz and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
