Tribute

Wanda Jean Hansel passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born in Oklahoma City where she attended Putnam City high school and met David her husband of 75 years. David and Wanda were married in 1944 while he was in the Army and they lived in Oregon/Calif during his service. After Army they settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma to raise their family.

Wanda was a beautiful person both inside and out and was admired by many friends over the years as she was always the first one to offer help to anyone that had any problems. While loving and raising her family was the priority, she also found the time to extend her care and love to many others. As youth director in our church, she helped guide the lives of many youths during their formative years and established an atmosphere in the church that attracted many youths to her programs. Later in life, Wanda started selling Real Estate and was so successful that she was able to start her own brokerage and grow it in to a top company.

After their retirement, Wanda and David enjoyed travelling in their RV and following their senior softball team to many tournaments around the country. They moved in to Epworth Villa in 2002 and enjoyed the activities as well as the many new friendships that they developed. She loved to play any kind of game and especially loved playing bridge. Her competitive spirit is legendary in our family!

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Cordie and Francis Mongold as well as her husband David. She leaves behind three children, David Jr. (Jeanne), Terry (Nancy), and Jeanne Ver Hoeve (Mark). Wanda was also very proud of her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Perkins, Jennifer Ortiz, Kayci Weichbrodt and Shelly Lee as well as her nine great grandchildren. It was always a highlight of her day when family came to visit and stories and laughter were enjoyed by all.

We will miss our beautiful lady that has touched our lives so impactfully and know that all her friends feel the same way. Knowing that she has now rejoined the love of her life sheds a special feeling of happiness over us all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Epworth in her name.

The family will host a memorial service at Epworth Villa - Brill Chapel on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 am., 14901 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
