Wanda Jean Floyd, 78, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 30, 2017.
Wanda was born to Walter and Nora Thomas at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where the family resided until she was nine years old. The family moved to Shafter, California, where Wanda met the love of her life Billy Joe Floyd. Wanda and Joe were married in Yuma, Arizona, on March 16,1956. Wanda and Joe moved to Pomona, California, and had two daughters, Stacey Renee’ and Rhonda Lynn. In 1963 the family moved to Oklahoma and resided the majority of her life in Oklahoma City, Ok.
Wanda is survived by her husband Joe Floyd, daughters Stacey Golden, (spouse Bob) and Rhonda Self, (spouse Terry), grandchildren Brad Golden, (spouse Jeanifer), Jana Gundy (spouse Mike) and Jill Gregory (spouse Cannon), great grandchildren Tyler Gundy, Kyle Gundy and Paige Golden, her sister Majorie Carriger and brother Bill Thomas.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Wanda loved Jesus Christ and enjoyed serving at Southern Hills Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir, served on mission trips and worked in the quilting ministry. She loved her family and all looked to her as the solid rock that could be counted on whenever a need arose. Her work career was spent at Integris Heath where she served in various financial services roles for more than 30 years.
Wanda loved people and was willing to serve others whether family, co-workers, church friends or those less fortunate than her in this world. She enjoyed travel and spent many vacations with family and friends. Wanda loved to garden and had the “touch” of bringing beauty through her flowers and plants. She enjoyed golf, quilting, and following family and friends on Facebook.
Services to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, Nov 2, 2017 at Southern Hills Baptist Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Services have been entrusted to the care of Resthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens.
