Virginia Deatherage Franks

Virginia Ann Franks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on July 10, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years.

Virginia Ann Franks was born on August 23, 1931, in Snow, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William Daniel “Buck” and Annie Lula (Todd) Joslin. She grew up in Joslin Valley attending Snow Public Schools. Following her education she met Frank Edward “Ed” Deatherage and they married in 1951, and they settled in Del City, where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1998 Ed passed away and she continued to make Del City her home. She was a member of the Lakehoma Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, RV traveling, and playing board games and she loved spending time with her family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Mike Deatherage and Danny Deatherage; two sisters; and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Pattsy Payne of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Barry Montgomery, Penny Salazar-Velazquez, Carmen Munoz, Desmond Deatherage and Amanda Deatherage; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Carol Brawley of Choctaw.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, with Rev. Johnny Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens.
