Velma Mae Brewer, 85, Oklahoma City went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was born the youngest of four children to Columbus Case and Clara Irick Case on February 20, 1932 in Pink Oklahoma. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from North East High School.
Velma married James W. Brewer on June 22, 1952 in Billings Montana. To their union three children were born, Kurt, Robin and Greg. With James in the music ministry they lived in Montana and Minnesota before moving to Oklahoma City to be near her family.
Velma's life was a Christ centered life as her parents, leading by example raised her in the way she should go. She was a member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church, Oklahoma City and then Metropolitan Baptist Church, Oklahoma City where she served in their tape ministry for many years. She was a Payroll Specialist at American Fidelity Assurance.
Velma was a true prayer warrior, praying for her family, her children and grandchildren instilling in them a love for the Lord and to treat other as you wanted to be treated. Many times, when asked how she raised such wonderful children, she would answer, "the best way to raise children is on your knees."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Elton and Aubrey Case, sister Jewel Scott, husband James Brewer and son Kurt Brewer. She is survived by her daughter Robin and husband Steve West, son Greg Brewer and wife Pamella King as well as her greatest joys four grandchildren, Amber Jackson and husband Ben of Manchester NH, Ashley Duea and husband Matt of Yukon OK, Kurt West and wife Megan of Oklahoma City and Stephanie Tolson of Edmond. She had eight great grandchildren, Taylor and Rowan Jackson, Hunter Kennedy, Jacob, Nathan and Samuel Duea and Eden and Canaan West.
Her family was her joy and she loved making memories with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and traveling the world with her husband.
The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Ranchwood Nursing in Yukon for their wonderful care of her the last few years and to the precious staff at Physicians Choice Hospice for their love and care to her and to her family. A big thank you to the people who prayed for us and for her, know that your prayers were felt and answered in God's perfect time.
