Terry Parks

April 30, 1964 ~ January 3, 2022 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Tribute

Terry Maurice Parks was born April 30, 1964, in Kansas City, Kansas to his parents Harold C. Parks Jr. and Patricia L. Dillard. He was preceded in death by his Father Harold C. Parks Jr, and Grandparents Harold C. Parks Sr. and Comerita Parks.

He grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Washington High School in 1982.

In his early years he truly enjoyed playing football, baseball, and basketball; a man with a passion and love for sports. In essence for his love of sports he was a raging loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan through and through;  happy to finally see them win a Superbowl in 2020.

In addition to his love of sports, he was an avid reader, developing the skill set to self teach and ultimately passing this torch of passion to learn down to his children. He is the reigning champion of “Cheesy Eggs” and still holds the title of “Breakfast King” in the family. Through this wonderful breakfast ritual, he ensured that he never missed an opportunity to break bread with family and friends.  While we’re on the topic of his love for food, one thing that anyone who was close to Terry can say is that he absolutely loved his Kansas City “Topsy’s Popcorn'' and “Gates and Sons Barbecue.” Anytime he had the opportunity to go back to his hometown, he would show up “Johnny on the spot” at those establishments.

When it comes to work ethic, hard work was no stranger to Terry Parks as he knew the value of showing up to work on time and always with a smile. He absolutely loved his work and coworkers at Southerland Mattress Company and often spoke about how blessed he was to work with such amazing people. He was in great standing with them for over 10 years.

When Terry wasn’t busy working and breaking bread with family, this man loved to Travel! Terry enjoyed embarking on new adventures always, and welcomed new experiences like horseback riding, indoor skydiving, hiking, and travel. He loved being outdoors in nature, whether it be barbecuing for the family, or enjoying a day at the beach. Along with new adventures, he always prioritized spending quality time with his family! A true Girl Dad to his core.

He leaves a loving family to cherish and honor his memories; his girlfriend Marya Santos, his mother Patricia L. Dillard, his brother, Harold Parks III, his sisters, Shelly Dillard and Kelly Young; Children: Patricia Burden, Teresa Parks, Tiara Parks, Taylor Parks; Grandchild: Aniyah Parks; and a host of loving family and friends. Terry has not only left his imprint of love for family in all of our hearts, but continues to remind us what perseverance and strength truly is through his consistent courage, optimistic outlook on life, and warrior spirit that he led his life with every day!
