Tribute

Steven Robert Sonoga was born July 30, 1961 in Youngstown, Ohio. He arrived in Heaven October 21, 2021.
Steve was born in Ohio and graduated from Champion High School. After he graduated from high school, he enlisted with the United States Army in 1981. He served as an army mechanic for 7 years. Before being sent off on his first assignment, he married the LOVE of his life Tina Daniels on May 15, 1982. Steve was then sent to Fort Riley Kansas where they had their first child Benjamin. After being in Kansas, they were then stationed in Ray Barracks Germany where they had the second child Chasity. Steve and his family spent three years in Germany and then they were sent to Fort Lewis, Washington until he completed his tour, and was honorably discharged from the Army. Steve took great pride in serving his country and felt very honored to be allowed to do so. Steve loved to tell his children/grandchildren stories of all he did while he was in the Army and of how proud he was to be able to serve. Steve and Tina eventually settled in the small town of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, where they made a home and raised their kids. Steve was a man of patience and enjoyed teaching his kids all he knew. Steve was always active in his kid’s life and attended or coached every event they were involved in. While living in Locust Grove, he went back to school to learn the trade of welding, where he excelled and became one of a kind in his trade. After his kids graduated from high school, Steve felt the calling from God to go into the ministry. Steve and Tina continued their journey together and moved to Oklahoma City, where he attended Mid-America Christian University, graduating with Bachelors in Science. Steve was very proud of his accomplishment and worked hard to achieve it. Steve wanted to show his family that hard work and dedication always pays off. He started his own very successful welding company. He was active in church and was always looking for ways to be of service. After his kids were married, he went from being not only called Dad but Pap-Paw/Pops as well. He was blessed with 3 grandchildren and adored each one of them. He enjoyed taking them camping, teaching them new things and attending every event he could, no matter how far away it was. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing with his friends and family. He loved tinkering in his garage listening to music. He was a problem solver and the best advice giver. He was and will always be such a great role model of how to live a Godly life and how to always have faith that God was greater than the situation. He was a Godly man and a family man and nothing meant more to him than those traits. He took pride in showing his family how to lead by example and by always doing the right thing, no matter what. He will always be remembered as a man of faith who believed God was always the one to look to for guidance. He was a wonderful husband, loving dad and the best Pap-Paw/Pops. He will be missed by every life he has touched.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Edna Mae Sonoga, his brother, Richard Sonoga and his son, Benjamin Sonoga.
Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years Tina, daughter Chasity Roach (Gavin), Gabriel and Gadriel Roach (grandsons), his daughter Tasha Sonoga-Haley (Jimmy)and Trinity Sonoga (granddaughter) and countless other family and friends.
