Steven Thomas Forrest was born on February 27, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Colonel Birdene Etsel Forrest and Thelma Inez Forrest. He lived in Oklahoma since 1965, and graduated from Del City High School in 1968. He passed from this life to be with his Heavenly Father and loved ones who preceded him on Saturday, March 18th, 2023.
Steven was known by “Tom” to his family. He is survived by his sister, Patricia L. MacDonald and her husband William G. MacDonald; brother, Colonel James T. Forrest; sister, Lisa J. Hancock and her husband William L. Hancock; nephew, Scott MacDonald and his wife Carrie MacDonald; nephew, Mike MacDonald and his wife LeAnn MacDonald; niece, Heather Hancock-Blackburn and her husband Craig Blackburn; niece Jennifer Bellina and her husband Joey Bellina; great niece, Katelin MacDonald; great nephew, Ian MacDonald; great niece, Maddix MacDonald; and great niece, Juliana Bellina.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Colonel Birdene and Thelma Forrest.
Tom was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, and a second Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Development. He retired from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality as a laboratory scientist. His past employment included Chromalloy for the aerospace industry and Kerr McGee Oil & Gas Company.
Tom had many interests which included science, history, and national politics. He was a civil war “aficionado” and a scholar of Abraham Lincoln. Tom was a voracious reader, and loved writing. He was an avid OU football fan for many years, and recently became an OKC Thunder Basketball Fan. Tom enjoyed being with his family on many special occasions and holidays. He also spent time with friends Charlie Barnes and Bob Mildfelt. He would often have lunch with them to reminisce about old times. Tom enjoyed watching “MomTV” aka MeTV -old sitcoms, the Discovery channel, the History channel, the Science channel, Mysteries of the Bible, cartoons, and comedies. Growing up he loved The Three Stooges. He always had a good sense of humor and was spontaneous and witty. Tom was a collector of many vinyl records-rock genre, movie motion pictures, and National Geographics. His nieces and nephews called him the “walking computer” because he had a great memory and was so intelligent. Tom loved all of his nieces and nephews. They were a big highlight of his life. His love for Jesus was apparent in how he served others and openly professed his faith in Christ. An incredibly kind, and gentle man – he was a beloved Son, Brother, and Uncle and will be deeply missed.
