RUBY IRENE HINK went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2021, at the age of 95. Her life was an incredible example; one defined by love, kindness and service to others.
She was born to Eric and Irene Morrison on February 24, 1926 in Omaha, NE. Ruby was married for 70 years to the love of her life, Lonzo Hink, and considered it a joy making a home for them and their three children. Ruby’s life was full, and she was a blessing to all those fortunate enough to call her sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her upbringing was spent in her family’s café, and she had fond memories with her mother in the kitchen learning to cook and bake. She was especially happy to bring a smile to the faces of her family and friends with her chicken and dumplings and delicious pies. Her life was devoted to her husband, family and church. As a lifelong member of Capitol Hill United Methodist Church, she enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher, serving communion, and many service projects with her dear friends in the Crusaders class. Ruby could often be found watching sports; she loved supporting her OU Sooners and was always in the stands to cheer on her children, grandkids and great grandkids in their activities. She and Lonnie also loved spending time at their condo in Red River, NM over the years with many friends and family.
Ruby loved her family and instilled strong values in her children, while demonstrating the love of God through her actions. She will be dearly missed and is forever in the hearts of children Karen and husband Felix Alarcon, Larry and wife Janie Hink, Gayla and husband Bobby Lax. She was the proud grandmother of Mark (Beth) Lawrence, Janea (James) Bertsch, Bryan (Sarabeth) Dobbs, Taylor (Lauren) Hink, Logan (Tiffany) Lax, Ethan (Heavin) Lax and great grandchildren, Jaxon, Joseph, Jacob, Jordyn, Blake, Lane, and baby Dobbs soon to arrive, brother-in-law, Bob Heidebrecht and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Bob Morrison, Mack Morrison, Norma Heidebrecht, husband, Lonzo Hink, and other dear family and friends.
The family would like to express special appreciation to the caring staff at Dorset Memory Care Center and Traditions Hospice.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 S.W. 104th Street on Monday, September 13, 2021, at 6 p.m.
