Be the first to offer your condolences on Rosemary's Tribute Wall
Rosemary J. Watson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on June 9, 2021, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 86 years.
Rosemary was born on October 17, 1934, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Edna (Derby) Smith. She left school after the 8th grade to work on the family farm. At the age of 18, she began working at the YMCA, washing clothes and cleaning homes to pay her room and board. She also worked at Dupey’s Bakery where she became an excellent cook and baker. It was at the YMCA that she met and married Bernard Hall. She served her family as a homemaker and mother to three children. In her early years she was a Children’s Sunday School Teacher at Pioneer Baptist Church. While her children attended school, Rosemary began working at John Glenn Elementary School Cafeteria. When her children were in middle school, she began working in management at the new Haggar Slacks Plant, running multiple lines, and remained there until the plant closed. When her grandson started elementary, she started baking at Winds West Elementary and remained there until her grandson was in middle school. Rosemary later worked as the Deli Manager at Buchanan’s grocery. Bernard Hall preceded her in death in 2006 and she later met and married Dale Watson, the love of her life. He remained her beloved partner until his death in 2010. Together they traveled the U.S, loving the sights and casinos. Rosemary always put Dale on a $20 limit – apparently, there is a limit to how much fun someone can have at one time! She loved to do crafts, toll painting and in her later years, she enjoyed China Painting with friends at the OKC China Painting Museum. She would also teach china painting to children at Woodson Park.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Winfred Smith, Wayne Smith, and Howard Smith; her sister, Betty Reed; and infant sister Sandra Smith.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Hall, and wife Tina of Yukon, Oklahoma, Rodger Hall, and wife Theresa of Magnolia, Texas, and Rhonda Totten, and husband Eugene of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Tyler Totten, Amanda (Totten) Valencia, and husband Manny, Aaron Hall, Arianna (Hall) Lopez, and husband Jacobe and Marissa (Hall) Leggett, and husband Justin; six great grandchildren, Baleigh Valencia, Gavin Valencia, Caden Hall, Landon Leggett, Konnor Leggett and Grayson Leggett; and her brothers, Marlin Smith and wife Mary, and Lowell Smith and wife Mary.
