Ronnie C. McKinney

Ronnie Curtis McKinney passed from this life April 22, 2018. He was born April 1, 1943 in Oklahoma City to Denham and Janie (Long) McKinney. Ronnie grew up in Oklahoma City and was a graduate of US Grant, Class of 1961. In 1960, he married Karen LaQueta Keas and together they had two children. Ronnie retired as a mechanical engineer for the City of Oklahoma City. In 1983, he married Brenda Sue Black, and she introduced him to his love of hot air balloons. He loved to pilot his hot air balloon, and was the President for the Oklahoma City Blazers Booster club for many years.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 20 years, Karen McKinney; second wife of 29 years, Brenda McKinney; grandson, Jake Leaverton; and brother in law, Kenneth Spencer.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: children, Ronda Ward and husband Dicki and Greg McKinney and wife Autumn; grandchildren: Lacy Brown and husband Shaun, Paige Coffee and husband Nik, Randi McKinney, Curtis McKinney and wife Stacy, Chad McKinney and wife Jessica, Ruby McKinney, and Jade McKinney; 10 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Terry Lee McKinney; sister, Rosalie Spencer; sister in law, Janice Reid and husband Mike.

Visitation will be held 1-8pm Thursday, April 26. A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held 2pm Friday at New Hope Christian Church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
