October 8, 2018 brought to a close 57 years of a life well lived for Peggy Lynn (Nevels) Matheson. She was born January 14, 1961 in Tyler, Texas to Pauline and Grady Nevels. Peggy attended Big Sandy Schools before moving to Ada, OK in 1971, where she finished her education at Byng Schools, graduating in 1979. Peggy always had a career in the health care industry, starting at Valley View Hospital in Ada as a nurse’s aide and a unit clerk. In 1994, Peggy moved to Oklahoma City and worked as a home health scheduler for Central Oklahoma Care at home, where she met the love of her life, Phillip “Tony” Matheson II. They married on July 25, 1997 while on vacation in Eureka Springs, AR. His passing on October 4, 2004 was heartbreaking for her and she never truly healed. Peggy went on to work for First Call of OKC as a scheduler where she made many lifelong friends. She wrapped up her dedicated career in health care with Golden Age Home Health. When she wasn’t working Peggy loved to watch OU Football and NCIS. She enjoyed reading and trips to the casino. She loved her family and spending time with them. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and her mother and father-in-law Barbara and Phil Matheson. She will be missed most by her sister, Linda Roop of OKC; nephews, Frank “PeeWee” Roop Jr. and Katie of Ada, Travis Roop and Angela of Salem, OR and Zakary Roop and Samantha of OKC; nieces, Kaci Lewis and Bryan of OKC, Alix Yaw of Norman and Paiton Yaw of Hilo, HI; great nephews and nieces, Presley, Isaac, Mathew, Liam, MaKenzie, Morgan, Jaci and Isabella; mother-in-law Priscilla Matheson; sisters-in-law, Sabrina Yaw and Dane of Norman and Dorraine Matheson of Yukon; and many other family and friends that loved her dearly.
