Paula Jean Pierce passed from this life February 21, 2020. She was born March 26, 1952 in Oklahoma City to Paul Elbert Wise and Doris Jean Wise (Cotton).
Paula grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School. She went on to attend South Oklahoma City Junior College. Paula married the love of her life, Alan Stanley Pierce, on October 3, 1969 at Southwood Baptist Church. She worked in the public school system, beginning her career with Oklahoma City Public Schools and ultimately retiring from Mid-Del Public Schools after 30 years of dedication and service.
Paula’s pride and joy was her family. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her children and grandchildren. She frequently surrounded herself with family and friends, celebrating and enjoying one another. Paula also enjoyed traveling with family and especially loved exploring caves, the Grand Canyon, the Red River, Hawaii, and most recently Niagara’s Falls, to name a few.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Doris and Paul Wise; sister, Cynthia Wise-Cyphers; and brother, Paul Wise.
Those left to continue her legacy include her loving husband, Alan Pierce; sons, Bill Pierce and wife Cindy and Greg Pierce and fiancé, Mariah Metzger; daughter, Jennifer Pierce McGraw and husband Bill; grandchildren, Cory, Brandon, Joshua, Brianna, Theron, Kayla, Wesley, and Emily; great-grandson. Lukas; brothers, Robert Wise, Marshall Wise and wife Gloria, Michael Wise and wife Becky, and Phillip Wise and wife Keri; and sisters, Theresa Wise and partner Meredith Swinson and Lisa Wise-Chapman. Paula is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Mariah Metzger for selflessly sacrificing her time to care for Paula during her short battle with cancer. In addition, a special thanks to Paula’s care team of doctors and nursing staff at Blount Memorial, as well as to the countless friends and family for their prayers, calls, and support.
Visitation for Paula is 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Thursday February 27, 2020 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 S.W. 104th St. Oklahoma City, OK 73139. Services are 2:00pm, Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Chapel at Resthaven. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Condolences may be shared at www.ResthavenOKC.com.
