Patricia “Patty” G. Gillean, 59, passed from this life January 3, 2018. She was born January 29, 1958 in Oklahoma City to Leslie Davis Jr and Vivian “Sue” (Gerod) Lane. She hardly said a word until she started school. From then on, she never stopped. Patty and her sister Kathy were extremely close, calling each other every day until Kathy became ill and passed away. Patty was an incredibly generous person if she liked you. If not, well, that’s a different story.
In Patty’s world, Saturdays were for pizza and football. She was an avid OU football fan and would even watch NFL if Adrian Peterson was playing; she never missed a game. She also loved animals of any kind and was known to feed the foxes and raccoons that would come close to the house, making sure to let her mom know so she could see them, too. Besides animals, Patty also loved her family, especially her great grandson.
Patty retired from Sprint once she became disabled and she enjoyed staying at home. She didn’t like to cook or clean, but she sure enjoyed her mom’s fried potatoes and cornbread!
Although she didn’t attend church, Patty loved the Lord and gave thanks to him often. It was like fate this Christmas; everyone had a beautiful time and Patty’s former husband, Rick, traveled in from Texas to share the day with her. The next day, Patty was taken to the emergency room and never fully recovered. Our family will never be the same.
Patty was preceded in death by her father; sister, Kathy Knight; brother, Steven Davis; as well as her grandparents and numerous cousins.
She leaves behind her mother, Sue Lane; daughter, Serena Hulbert and husband Jeremy; former husband, Rick Gillean; brother, Michael Davis and wife Kathye; grandchildren, Kaleb and Kaitlyn Hulbert; and great grandson, Boston Hulbert.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 7 from 1-8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be held 2pm Monday, January 8 in the Chapel at Resthaven. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Resthaven Funeral Home, resthavenokc.com
