Opal grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1952. She married Reynold James Blaine and raised their two children, James (Jimmy) Wayne Blaine and Diane Elaine Blaine, in the Del City/Midwest City area.
Opal worked in insurance underwriting for 45 years at Standard Life Insurance Company in Oklahoma City and rose to the top of her field as a Senior Underwriter. Above all else, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. She was always quick to crack a joke, spoil her kids and grandkids when she could, and pray with her loved ones who needed God’s comfort. Her family also acknowledges that Opal was a motherly figure to many others, and want to thank those who loved her like she was family.
Those who knew Opal knew her to be a strong prayer warrior and woman of faith. She served as an altar worker for many years and enjoyed her church’s homeless community ministry, counseling and praying with people from all walks of life. She was an avid student of The Bible and loved learning the Hebrew language, visiting Israel numerous times, and filling her home full of memorabilia from the Holy Land.
Opal is proceeded in death by her parents, Ranual & Irene Blankenship; both of her children, Jimmy Blaine & Diane Jones; her infant sister, Corrine Blankenship; her brother & wife, Deb & Blanche Blankenship; her sister & husband, Alline & Masil Huddleston; niece, Margaret Blankenship; nephew, Michael Blankenship; and great-nephew, Cody Davis.
