Nelson John Christiansen of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday July 18, 2021.

He was born in Norman on September 23, 1961, to John and Kay Christiansen. He attended Norman High School where he was a band member and played the trombone, graduating in the class of 1979. Nelson then went on to The University of Rochester in New York followed by medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Following his education, he moved back to Oklahoma and met Barbara Adler of Snyder, Oklahoma, and they married in 1988. They had two daughters together, Haley and Laurel. Nelson continued his education and attended The University of Oklahoma School of Law where he graduated in 1994. He was in the top of his class and was honored with The Order of the Coif. He was also recognized for being an outstanding Note Editor for the Oklahoma Law Review. Later in life, he changed career paths and worked towards a teaching degree in the hopes of being able to teach middle school. Nelson enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock music, sports cars, model cars/rockets, growing vegetables in his garden, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. John Christiansen; uncle, Calvin Christiansen; uncle, Jim Richardson; aunt, Jeanne Sturrock; maternal grandparents, Muriel and Gerald Branson; paternal grandparents, Carl and Laura Christiansen; and paternal step-grandmother, Mary Christiansen.

He is survived by his mother, Kay Christiansen; daughters, Haley and Laurel Christiansen; son-in-law, Gerald Smith; grandsons, Gage and Grant; aunts, Mary Ann Richardson and Estella Christiansen; uncle, Jim Sturrock; and numerous extended family members.
