Neketia N. Wood

September 24, 1927 ~ August 28, 2019 (age 91)

Neketia Nadine Wood, 91 years of age, passed from this life on August 28, 2019, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born September 24, 1927, in Vian, Oklahoma to Charles Macon Vanderheiden and Dillie Thelma Vanderheiden.

Since Neketia’s father worked building roads through and around Oklahoma, she attended 27 schools before the family settled in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1946.
Neketia married the love of her life and soul mate, Granvel W Wood, aka “Bill”, on February 21, 1946, and they had a daughter one year later in 1947, on their first wedding anniversary. What an anniversary present that was.

After a few various jobs, Neketia went to work at Tinker Field Air Force Base. She was there for many years and transferred to the Internal Revenue Service where she worked until retirement. After retirement, Neketia and Bill purchased a motor home and traveled the US National Parks. The goal was to visit every park. Which they did.

Neketia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dillie Vanderheiden.
