Tribute

Michael J. Webb of Oklahoma City passed away April 30, 2021 of Parkinson’s disease. Mike was born August 3, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas to Jessie Ernest and Mary Faye (Arnold) Webb. Mike Graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1964.

Mike went to meet a girl and asked out her friend instead. The friend was Joan Wolf who became his wife January 26, 1967. They were married for 52 years. Mike could always get a wink and smile from Joan. She was his biggest fan! Mike volunteered for the US Army in 1964. He returned home 1966 and continued serving in the reserves until 1970. Mike became a member of the Oklahoma City Fire Department April 1, 1966. He loved the job, the firemen and the lifestyle. He quickly started studying for promotions and rose through the ranks. He excelled at his career because he loved the job. Mike retired April 1, 1996, as Deputy Fire Chief. He had a wonderful 30-year career. The firemen gifted Mike with set golf clubs at his retirement party. Golf became his new job. He planned an annual golf trip to Lake Texoma every May, these trips were legendary. Mike loved his hunting trips to South Dakota with his buddy Phil Stephenson. Mike’s family, golf, hunting, fishing and going to his lake house were his greatest joys in retirement.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Joan and parents Ernest and Faye Webb.

Mike is survived by his daughter Apryl Beall, son-in-law Keith, granddaughter Elizabeth, brother Thomas Webb and wife Angela, brother in law Mike Wolf and wife Sharon, sister in laws Veronica (Wolf) Kahn and Toni Wolf and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike had many titles; son, brother, husband, dad, papa and Chief. Papa was his favorite title. Mike’s granddaughter Elizabeth was the light of his life. Mike was determined to walk in and out of Elizabeth’s High School graduation in 2018 and he did!

Mike’s service in the U.S. Army allowed him to live at the Norman Veteran’s Center. It was such a blessing for Mike and his family. A special thanks to those dedicated workers.

Mike will be missed by so many but especially his daughter Apryl, Mike was her dad, champion and hero.
