Mary Faye Minnick Smallwood was born March 2, 1933 in Okemah, OK to Gid and Comilla Minnick. She grew up and attended school in Pierce, OK where she played basketball. Her family moved to Checotah in 1950 where she met the love of her life, her husband Charles. They were married on August 31, 1952 and moved to OKC to start their life together. Faye made being a mother and wife her priority. She went to work for Dodson’s Cafeteria after her youngest child enrolled in school.
She was a big fan of Thunder basketball and loved to embroidery until the last few years when her health started to decline.
Faye was preceded in death by her daughter Glenda, grandson Shawn, both her parents, twin sister May, three brothers, Gene, Alvie and Dale.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles, daughter Sharon Slabaugh and husband Jerry of Dibble, son Rodney Smallwood and wife Rhonda of Mustang, 4 grandsons-Chad & Eric Kelly of OKC, Tyler Slabaugh of Dibble, Bryce Smallwood of Mustang, 4 great grandchildren, sister Evelyn, brothers Junior & Lon.
Faye went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31 at the age of 84 in OKC. Services will be Saturday, February 10th at 2pm in the Chapel at Resthaven.
