Mary ‘Sue’ Jackson Carter, age 87 passed away peacefully, due to natural causes, November 2nd, 2020.
She was born December 29, 1932 in Hickory, Oklahoma to Edna and John Jackson.
Sue married Billy Jack Carter September 25th, 1953. After 60 years of Marriage, he preceded her in death on April 19, 2014.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John Gist Jackson and Edna Velma Lindsay Jackson, her brother Dan Norvin Jackson and sister Elizabeth Janette Hudson and Winifred Hazel Guest.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who frequently reminded us all to ‘Be sweet, be kind and don’t forget to mind. She was quick witted, especially with ‘one-liners’, loved to sing, loved to paint, enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, ceramics, and also an accomplished seamstress who never let her daughters dress in ‘store bought’ clothes.
For many years she worked at Southwestern Bell. She was a PBX switchboard operator and a Senior Records Clerk.
Mary Sue is survived by her daughters Brenda Diane Carter Gates and husband Floyd; Shellye Sue Carter Simmons; sons Gregory Jack Carter; Jeffrey Eric Carter and wife Susan; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
