On Wednesday, September 14th, Marie Foister, a wife, mother of 3 and Nene to 5 grandchildren passed from this life at the age of 87.
Marie was born V. Marie Palmer to Russell and Susie Palmer in Pensacola, Florida February 12th, 1935. She spent most of her younger years in Mobile, Alabama where she met and married her husband, Ike Foister. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Marie worked for many years as a clerk typist for the FAA before going back to school to study electronics. She retired in 1988 from the federal government where she became the first female electronic technician with the Department of Defense. Marie designed air to ground communication systems for the Over the Horizon program which provided communications prior to satellites for military aircraft and space shuttle launches as far north as the Artic and as far south as Africa.
She will be remembered and missed by her husband, Ike Foister of OKC, and 3 children; her son Tony and Deb Foister of Brandon, Florida, her son Randy Foister of OKC, and her daughter Sherrie and Paden Conley of Newcastle, her 4 grandsons and their spouses; Shelby and Suzette Foister of Plant City, FL, Lake and Lex Conley of Mustang, Gant and Alaina Conley of OKC, Finley of OKC, and great-granddaughter Hazel Marie of Plant City, FL, many nieces and nephews including Ellen and Van Saucer of Willmer, Alabama and their family, Chase and Stephanie Palmer of Park City, Kansas and their family, Debbie and Tom Allen of Dallas, Texas and their family, and Terry Palmer of Pensacola, Florida.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert and Barbara Palmer of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, her brother Lloyd and Joanne Palmer of Mobile, Alabama, and her sister Betty and David Sprinkle also of Mobile, Alabama, two nieces Reba Berninger of Denton, Texas and Cindy Palmer of Mobile, Alabama.
Visitation will be on Monday the 19th from 10am to 8pm and the family will be present from 5pm-7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 SW 104th in Oklahoma City. Marie’s full life will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept 20th at 10am with interment immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery.
