Marian Nadine Mays was born November 27, 1926, in Bold Springs, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Beulah Hopewell; 3 brothers: Leonard, Murray, and Francis Hopewell; 3 sisters: Leona Heath, Wilma Hise, and Patricia Erichsen. She was married to Arnold Mays on January 7, 1944. She is survived by her son Bill Mays, Jr. and wife, Earlene of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters, Stacy Thomas and husband Clint of Tuttle, OK; and Crystal Elledge and husband James of Norman, OK; one great-grandson, Jake Thomas of Stillwater; four great-granddaughters, Madilyn Thomas of Edmond, Emily Thomas of Tuttle, and Macy & Callie Elledge of Norman; plus a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Nadine worked for the State Dept. of Education for 32 years and retired as the Director of Teacher Accreditation in 1991. After retirement, she enjoyed lots of traveling with her travel group to places such as New York City, Washington DC, and a trip to Europe. She was a faithful member of Emmaus Baptist Church and has a Sunday School Class full of dear friends. Nadine was a huge sports fan! She was a devoted follower of the OKC Thunder basketball team and longtime Sooner supporter. She enjoyed gardening, trying new recipes, and loved pretty clothes and jewelry. Nadine loved her family well and was cherished by all of them. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services to celebrate Nadine’s life will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Emmaus Baptist Church in Oklahoma City with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
