Lola Geneva “Gene” Mobley, age 95, passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side. She was born November 1, 1922 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to Richmond and Elsie Pirtle. She was the middle of three children, Clifford, Geneva and Lou. It was here where she met and married her first love, Robert William Wood. He enlisted in the Air Force during WWII and they would soon be moving to Okinawa, Japan. She loved sharing wonderful stories about the new culture, friends and lifestyle that she happily embraced during her stay in Japan. After the war they returned to the states and moved to Oklahoma City, where they would start their family. She was happy to be the proud mother of two daughters, Luelsa and Megan. Her family was her world and that was evident each and every day of her life. Sadly, her loving marriage was cut short by the death of her husband, leaving her to raise two daughters under the age of 8. She was a strong determined woman who did a great job raising her daughters and instilled in them the same strength and determination that her parents had instilled in her. Years later she would meet and marry her loving husband Wayne Howard Mobley. They were best friends in love, and he adored her daughters. They both enjoyed spending time with their family, watching football, dancing and their children and grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Honey”. They dressed up on weekends to go ballroom dancing with all of their friends, which they did for 30 plus years. When she was not dancing she was a proud member of the women’s philanthropic TPA Club, where she met some of her lifelong best friends. She is survived by her daughter Luelsa LaRue and husband Phil, daughter Megan Bradford, Grandchildren Shawn LaRue and wife Lori, Danika Harris and husband Michael, Brandon Bradford and wife Becky and Great Grandchildren Morgan and Lilly LaRue and Hayden Harris and sister Lou Barkett Hightower. She was preceded in death by her parents Richmond and Elsie Pirtle, husbands Robert W. Wood and Wayne H. Mobley, brother Clifford Pirtle and nephew Woody Barkett Jr. The family extends a special “Thank You” to the sweet angels at Heritage Point Memory Care for their outstanding, loving care. We were so blessed to have their support for our mother and for us.
