Ruth Betterton

Linnie “Ruth” Betterton entered her Heavenly home on January 5, 2020 in Oklahoma City. She was born February 26, 1937 in Amber, Oklahoma to Ralph Wilson Testerman and Rhoda Ethel Testerman (Kee).
Ruth grew up in the Bridge Creek area and graduated from Bridge Creek High School. She married the love of her life, William Marter Betterton, on February 28, 1958. Ruth worked as a secretary at Will Rogers and went on to work at Tinker Air Force Base. She and William soon started their family and Ruth spent the next several years loving and raising her children. Later in life, she went on to work at Southern Hills Baptist Church as a secretary. Ruth loved her church and church family. Her passion was to serve and she spent many years teaching Sunday school for the 4 year old age group. She found great joy in this and taught up until her passing. In addition, Ruth also had a passion for singing and was a part of the Jubilee Singers at Southern Hills Baptist Church. Her other hobbies included gardening, cross stitching, and above all, spending time with those she loved.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Ralph and Rhoda Testerman; sisters, Helen Brown and Alice Paige; and brother, Monroe Testerman.
Survivors include her loving husband, William Betterton, of the home; son, Dale Betterton and Jim Baum of Tahlequah; daughter, Rhonda Harris and Ricky of Oklahoma City; brother, Roy Testerman and Linda; sisters, Ola Morrison and Ken, Lora Dills and Ken, and Lavelle Ragsdale; grandchildren, Jason Harris and Jessica, Nikki Harris, and Justin Harris and Karina; and great-grandchild, Oliver Harris. Ruth is also survived by a host of loving extended family, church family, and many loving friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation for Ruth is 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 S.W. 104th St. Oklahoma City, OK 73139. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Services to honor Ruth’s life are 2:00pm, Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Chapel at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159 .
