Born in Arlington, California June 21, 1936 to Dora and Leonard Gonzales. Raised on a ranch in Beaumont, California until the age of 17 when he joined the Army in 1953. There he served in the 11th Airborne Division until his honorable discharge in 1956 and the Army Reserve until 1961. He met his wife Peggy while stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and married in Beaumont, California on Christmas Eve 1956. Throughout life he wore many work hats, he was a cowboy ranch hand, a soldier, a cotton mill worker, a cook, a bus driver, and a long haul truck driver. He loved his RV, the lake, fishing, and his Edmond Elk Lodge #2578. He was happily married to Peggy for 64 years and has loving family of two daughters Tina Armstrong and son-in-law Eddy, Benita Baker, four granddaughters, Mandy Schulte and husband Bryan, Marquel Armstrong, Nichole Mestanza, and Suzette Furry. Eight great grandchildren Zoie, Lola, Daxton, Wednesday, Knox, Summer, Xavier, and Roman.
