Be the first to offer your condolences on Lena's Tribute Wall
Lena Pearl Vervinck died early on January 15, 2020 in Norman, Oklahoma after living a full life. She was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on October 13, 1924 to Oscar and Fannie Tompkins. She had 12 siblings. Lena met her husband Harold Vervinck in Chickasha. They were married on May 3, 1943. They had five beautiful children together and were married for more than 67 years. Besides spending time with their family and grandchildren, Lena and Harold were keen on traveling, especially loving Alaska and their many trips around the country with the Shriners. She had a wonderful time dressing up and going dancing, which she and Harold did together weekly. She was an avid doll collector, who delighted in designing and sewing clothes for each and every "baby" she collected. Later in life, she discovered her love of painting. Her artistry didn't just stop there, she also relished every moment she could spend sightseeing and saw the beauty in everything from architecture to a simple floral pattern. She is survived by her children - Dennis; Ronald and his wife JoAnne; Joyce and her husband Richard McDaniel; and Shirly and her husband Albert Linam. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren - Eric McDaniel, Allie Larman, Brian Linam, Dana Smith and Zachary Linam together with their spouses and 8 great-grandchildren - Kaylee, Ethan, Andrew, Danielle, Brayden, Camryn, Bryce and Aria. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and their oldest son Danny. She will be missed by her family and friends.
