Tribute

JoAnn Snyder, 84 passed from this life on Friday, May 4th at Sommerset Neighborhood in South Oklahoma City after suffering a series of strokes.  She was born to William Manuel and Vatura Bright in Lone Grove, OK.  JoAnn was the youngest of 8 children.  At 10 years old she left the farm and moved to OKC with her father.  Her mother had just recently passed.  They began attending Capitol Hill Assembly of God Church where she met Jerry Nelson Snyder.  There they were wedded on November 10, 1951.  From this union three children were born, Vicki, Cynthia and Tim.  She earned a degree in music from OCU.  She taught private piano lessons and served as church pianist for many years.  After various secretarial positions she settled into a final role in procurement at Tinker AFB.  JoAnn’s life was a simple one that centered around faith in God and family.  She was so proud of her accomplishments which she considered to be her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband.  She is survived by Vicki and Dean Cargill, Cynthia and Kirk Nall and Tim Snyder.  Grandchildren, Tyson and Rachel Cargill, Tanner and Chelsea Cargill, Mende Nall, Lacey and Craig Courtney, Acelan Nall,  Jordan Snyder and Jesse Snyder.  Great grandchildren, Wyatt and Owen Cargill, Weston Cargill,  Riley and Raegan Courtney.  Jessica, Kory, Evie and Noah.  Mom lived at Sommerset Neighborhood for the last year where she was a favorite.  A special thank you goes to the staff of Sommerset Neighborhood and Frontier Hospice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with family greeting friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her life will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at The Chapel at Resthaven with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
