Lawana Boyd

Lawana Sue Boyd entered her heavenly home April 9, 2024. She was born September 18, 1951, in Wynnewood, OK to Edgar and Eula (Sue) Christian. Lawana grew up in Elmore City in her early childhood years before the family moved to Oklahoma City. She graduated from Moore High School in 1969. She married Richard Boyd and from this marriage they were blessed with two children, Tammy and Richard Boyd. She attended some college courses at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and went on to work in retail and accounting. She worked in many different retail/accounting roles throughout her life and spent the most time at Century Martial Arts before ultimately working at and retiring from Walmart.
Lawana had a green thumb and found great joy in all things plants and flowers. She was an excellent candy maker and especially loved to make fudge for her family and friends during the holidays. In addition, she loved county music. Above all, Lawana adored her family and loved spending time with them.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Edgar and Sue Christian; her first husband, Richard Boyd; and her second husband, Jim Holder.
Those left to continue her legacy include her brother, Kenny Christian and wife Norma; daughter, Tammy Boyd; son, Richard Boyd; grandchildren, Cameron Hoover, Shay’na Choate and husband Michael, Sierra Boyd and David Burton, Walker Boyd and wife Candace, Mikayla Schnepel, and Marissa Tan and husband Franche; great-grandchildren, Calcifer Hoover, Cora Choate, Emmett Choate, Milo Burton, Ivan Burton, Maxine Boyd, and Iris Boyd. Lawana is also survived by her best friend, Shirley Horn, as well as a host of other loving extended family and friends.
Lawana’s Celebration of Life service is 2:00pm, Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Chapel at Resthaven. Services will be live-streamed for those who wish to attend virtually. Please use the link below to access the live stream.
