Katie Leanna Woods
July 28, 1993 – May 22, 2021 (age 27)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and much-too-soon departure of our beloved Katie Leanna Woods from this life on May 22, 2021 at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Katie was born in Oklahoma City on July 28, 1993, and later lived with her family in Albuquerque, New Mexico, St. Louis, Missouri, and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, before returning to Oklahoma City in 2016.
Katie was a precious and beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, great aunt and friend to many. She graduated from Putnam City High School, while also attending Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City in 2010 and attended the Ogle School of Cosmetology in Fort Worth, Texas, where she graduated in 2014. Katie was a skilled and talented cosmetologist, and from a young age always enjoyed hair design and styling and doing both her own and others’ hair and make-up. She had her own unique personal style and a natural gift for expressing and creating beauty, as well as a flair for fashion and decorating.
Katie had a sweet and tender heart of gold, a loving, giving spirit, and a special love for animals. She enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her precious fur babies, her dog, Stormy and her cat, Nova, who are both grieving over her loss. Katie enjoyed taking Stormy on long walks, listening to music, working out and jogging. She had a great sense of humor, liked to sing karaoke, play card games and shoot pool. She also found much happiness in all the wonderful facets of God’s creations and enjoyed spending time with nature and being outdoors enjoying the sunshine. Flowers made her especially happy, and sunflowers were her absolute favorite, along with her favorite color of green. As we reflect on her life, we can never think of her without picturing the beautiful sunflowers with which she decorated her home and surroundings. They remind us of her radiant and sunny smile that lit up every room she walked into, her beautiful, sparkling eyes, and the light and happiness she brought to her loved ones, which is comforting for all who loved her so much and will miss her terribly.
Katie was preceded in death by her ‘Papa’ James Smith, her Aunt Becky (Rebecca) Cobo, and her paternal grandparents, Mae Lee and Sebron Woods. She is survived by her mother, Pamela K. (Pam) Smith Woods, her dad, Robert P. (Bob) Woods, her maternal grandmother, Orbie Smith, her loving brothers, Nick and Michael Delgado, her sisters, Heather and Heidi Woods, her nephew Mason Landis, nieces Whitney Reyes and Desiree Baca, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, grand nephews, as well as many friends.
