Karen Lee Spurgin went to be with her lord and savior on August 3, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Karen was born on August 24, 1941 in Sparks, Oklahoma to Elmer Sires and Ann Neighbors. Karen has one sister Sue.
Karen graduated from Northeast High school in 1959.
Karen married the love of her life, her late husband Clifton Lakey on December 27, 1958. Clif and Karen lived in Moore, Oklahoma where they raised their two daughters Tammy and Cheryl. Before Clif unexpectedly passed away, Karen and Clif had 24 wonderful years together.
Karen served as the assistant vice president of Friendly National Bank for many years.
In 1986, Karen married Jack Spurgin and together they lived in Moore for almost 34 years. They enjoyed watching their grandchildren do their various sports and activities. Together they created a legacy of snow skiers, taking grandkids and even great grandkids on yearly ski trips where Karen was known for cooking wonderful meals for the bunch by day and dominating the poker table by night.
Karen was an avid reader, loved spending time with her family, Elvis, and countless traveling adventures with family and friends.
She was a larger than life personality who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Ann, her husband Clifton Lakey and husband Jack Spurgin.
She is survived by her daughters; Cheryl Williams and husband Tim of Tuttle, Tammy Reifschneider and husband Dan of Colorado, sister Sue Byrd of Georgia, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation is 6:00pm-7:30pm, Friday, August 12, 2022 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services are 2:00pm, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Chapel at Resthaven. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
