Jonathan Randal Grissom was born on January 24th, 1979 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Thunderbird Military Academy and attended OCCC to study HVAC and electrician trade. Jon joined the US Marine Corp in 1999. He often said his proudest moment in life was the completion of “The Crucible” and receiving the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. Jon was a lifelong Christian having surrendered his life to Jesus Christ when he was ten years old. He attended Life Church of Moore. Ok. He loved life. He was avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He proclaimed himself to be a “tinkerer” in the likeness of his Peepaw,’ his Grandfather Barnes whom he shared the same birthday. They shared the joy of cooking “wild and strange” cuisine including squirrel stew, wild boar, fried rabbit and bullfrogs. Jon loved his friends and family . He never met a stranger. He often volunteered to help others with home improvement repairs, fixing neighbors air conditioners or electrical problems. He was awarded a valued certificate of appreciation from the county commissioners for his volunteer service following the devastating Moore tornadoes. He served with the public health emergency management team in Saguache Colorado during the salmonella outbreak in 2008. Jon was his happiest when helping others. Jon left this life unexpectedly on October 18, 2020 following a brief illness. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the ER and ICU staff at Norman Regional Hospital for the kindness and excellent care of our son. Jon’s struggle with mental illness although a lifelong challenge was made manageable by the excellent care he received from Dr. Shantharam Darbe MD, Cindi Barnard MSW and staff.
