John Lovell Sanders

John L. Sanders, 92, passed away peacefully at Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his family. A lifelong Oklahoman, he was born in Love County, Eastman Community on August 23, 1926 to Dory Seuce and Henry C. Sanders. John was the third of seven children. John attended Meadowbrook School where he was active in all sports. After graduation he was drafted into the Army and was assigned into the original Horse Calvary. He was honorably discharged in 1949 and attended the University of Oklahoma. He was employed with Frisco Rail Road as a telegraph operator, leaving that job to work at Tinker Air Force Base. John retired from Tinker in 1984 and began living his dream, raising horses and cattle. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred in 1990; brother, Henry C. Sanders in 1991; and four brothers-in-law, Sam O’Neal, Maurice Epley, George Burkhart, and Jim Buckley. He is survived by his four sisters, Anna Lee Burkhart of Marietta, Betty Tipton and husband Orley of Altus, Bobby Epley of Wilson, Mary Buckley of Norman; one brother, Eddie K. Sanders of Oklahoma City. John had a great and faithful love for his parents and siblings-always looking after them and adding a helping hand. John was saved and baptized in Elmore City in 2000. Services to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Crossroads Church in Oklahoma City with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
