Jo Donette Treat passed from this life March 21, 2020. She was born August 25, 1936 in Lindsay, OK to Amos Alton Jackson and Gladys (Godwin).
Jo grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School. After high school, she was then married and blessed with two children, Ricky and Sherrie McCollum.
Jo was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Norman. She loved her church and church family and greatly enjoyed attending until her health began to decline. At the young age of ten, Jo was baptized and gave her heart to the Lord. Her grandmother, Suzy Godwin, had a large influence on Jo’s life and set the Christian example of which Jo followed her entire life.
Above all, Jo adored her family. She loved spending time her children and grandchildren. She absolutely loved playing board games and card games with her grandchildren. In addition, Jo had a passion for writing and wrote many poems, stories, and letters throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening and art activities. Jo created many amazing paintings that will forever be cherished by those she loved.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Amos Alton Jackson and Gladys Wood (Godwin); husband, Wesley Treat; daughter, Deborah Sue McCollum; and brother, Larry Jackson.
Those left to continue her legacy include her son, Rick McCollum and wife Rita of Norman; daughter, Sherrie McCollum of Florida; grandchildren, Nick McCollum and wife Melanie, Chase Cudmore and wife Laura, and Tela McCollum; great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Rylie, Jadyn, Ethan, and another great-grandchild arriving in July; sister-in-law, Karen Jackson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Fitzgerald and husband Jerry; nephews, Steven Jackson, David Jackson, and Garrett Jackson; and niece, Teresa McCumber. Jo is also survived by a host of loving extended family and friends.
Visitation for Jo is 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Resthaven. Services are 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Chapel at Resthaven.
