Jimmy Wayne Owens

Jimmy Wayne Owens age 83 of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully Wednesday June 2nd, 2021 Jimmy was born March 7th, 1938 in Booneville Arkansas to Hawley and Willie (Wisley) Owens. He married Jerrie Schaeffer New Years Eve of 1957, they had celebrated 59 years at the time of her death in 2017.
Jimmy joined the Air Force while attending Capitol Hill High School. He served during the Korean war and after discharge returned to Oklahoma City where joined the work force at Oklahoma Natural Gas Co as a ditch digger He would work his way up to construction superintendent until his retirement in 1993.
He was an avid bowler, many 300 games, member of the Oklahoma Bowling Hall of Fame and was on the Senior Pro Bowlers tour for many years. He enjoyed working with the 4H Junior Livestock shows and a lifetime of supporting the OU Sooners.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Mike and wife Becky Owens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bryan and wife Tolly Owens of Jay, Florida; Grandsons Dylan of Oklahoma City, and Judah of Jay, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hawley Owens and mother Willie Godwin; and his step father, Edgar Godwin; Wife Jerrie Owens and son, Jay Stephen; and one brother, Earl Owens

Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
