Jimmy Ray Jones, born March 7, 1932, surprised his wife at her 82nd birthday party in Heaven on October 27, 2018. They were married for over 50 years and she was the love of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian A. Jones and Noel A. Jones, and four siblings. Jimmy graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, and then joined the US Army. He served in the Korean War, where he received several awards and two Bronze Stars. He came home, met mom, and fell madly in love. In September of 1955, he married Joan L. Bell, whom went to be with the Lord April 10, 2006. From this union there were 3 children: Terry Ray Jones and wife Lois of Knoxville, TN, Randy Lee Jones and Houng of OKC, and Sandra L. Burke of Edmond; 2 grandchildren: Kristen Burke Claycomb and husband Doug, and Brandon Kyle Burke; and one great grandson, Drew “Ray” Claycomb. Dad also left behind his special pal, Ranger, his dog.
Dad worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years. He was also very competitive and loved sports! He especially loved OU Sooner football and basketball, and became a big softball fan after Kristen played collegiate fastpitch softball. Dad could always tell you who OU recruited and where they came from. He also loved to watch the Thunder and cut the schedule out of the paper every day. Dad loved his dogs as well; from Blackie, King, Chow, Ranger, and Joni, they were well taken care of and well fed. Dad’s sweet smile and sky blue eyes will be missed greatly.
