Jimmy Ray Greenwood of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on August 26, 2020, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years.
Jimmy Ray Greenwood was born on January 27, 1932, in Maud, Oklahoma. He was the son of Fred Mace and Dora (McCarey) Greenwood, he grew up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, attending Ardmore Public Schools. On April 13, 1948, he entered the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict with the medical company 179th infantry of the 45th division. Following his discharge form the Army he moved back to Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1963 he married Patricia Ann Wilkins and they made their home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1968 he moved with his family to Moore, Oklahoma, where he began his career with Lee Way Motor Freight until 1984 when he became an independent driver retiring in 1991. On November 16, 2016, Patricia preceded him in death. He was a lifelong member and post commander of the VFW Post 4574 and was a 32nd degree mason. He enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, golfing, and loved spending time with his family and his dogs.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bill White, Tom Paul Greenwood, Bobby Randal Greenwood, and Freddy Allen Greenwood; two sisters, Vyda Marie Walters, and Francis Alameda Wilkins; and two grandchildren, Jimmy Lynn Dickinson, and Steve Dwayne Strahan.
He is survived by four sons, Jimmy Ray Greenwood Jr., Billy Fred Greenwood, Bobby Gene Greenwood, and Michael Collins; three daughters, Glenda Ann Strahan, Jimmie Lou “Lucy” Bonny, and Billie McKinney; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; one brother, Rex Ardell Greenwood, and one sister, Betty Jo Thomas.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, 10:00 am, September 1, 2020, at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens.
