Janice Kay Phillips moved peacefully from this life into the arms of her Lord on January 11, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jackie Waggoner and her brother Jimmy Waggoner. She is survived by her adoring husband Gary of 41 years, her sister and husband JoAnne and Rick Wolcott and her sister-in-law Carla and husband Wayne. Janice had several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews with whom she devoted a significant amount of time. Some of her fondest memories were of elaborate adventures she shared with them.
Janice was born in Oklahoma City in 1955. She met the love of her life on a winter backpacking trip in southeastern Oklahoma. They were accompanied by their roommates, Tim and Truetta Kaul, who also married and continue to be devoted family friends.
Janice received her associates degree from Oklahoma City Community College and later worked as the President’s Executive Assistant at OCCC for 38 years before enjoying her retirement.
Janice was known for her quick wit and kind heart. Among many things, she loved camping, traveling, 4-wheeling and spending quality time with family. She was an expressive and captivating storyteller. She had an affinity for baking pies and her family was thrilled to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Apple pies were one of the many “Janice staples” at family gatherings and delivering pies was just one way that Janice showed love and encouragement to friends and family members during difficult times. Janice was very involved in her church family at Snow Hill Baptist Church and dedicated time to passing out food and clothing in the “Wednesday’s Are For Others” ministry. She was devoted to her faith and enjoyed sharing her love for God with others. Janice will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday January 15th. Services will be held at Snow Hill Baptist Church on Monday January 16th at 1:30 p.m. 11 S Morgan Rd, Tuttle, OK 73089
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Snow Hill Baptist Church
