James W Rushing

James Wallace Rushing (J.W.) went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 7, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Durant, Oklahoma to Jesse and Lillie Rushing. J.W. married the love of his life, Margaret (Green) Rushing in 1949. They were happily married for over 66 years until her passing in 2016. After getting married, J.W. and Margaret moved to Oklahoma City to start their new life together. They worked hard together in building their company, J.W. Rushing Homes and land developing company. J.W. built hundreds of homes in the Southwest Oklahoma City, Moore and surrounding areas for over 45 years. J.W. had many wonderful accomplishments during his career. He had the privilege of building the Central Oklahoma Buildings Association’s Project Home and was named Builder of the Year along with many other accomplishments. Traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren at his lake home was one his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed going to the casino. J.W. lived next to a pond, so each morning and evening he enjoyed feeding the many ducks that came to visit him.

He is survived by his children; Danny Rushing and wife Mary (Sandi), Jerry Rushing and wife Mary and Denise Gomez and husband Tony, all of Oklahoma City; His brother, Glendal Rushing and his wife Carolyn of Durant, Oklahoma; Grandchildren; Renae Simpson and husband Alan, Christina Johnson and husband Tory, Sr., James Lee Rushing, Clay Davidson and wife Ericah, Timothy Rushing, Christopher Caldwell, Jesse Rushing and wife Nichole, Mathew Caldwell and wife Shannon, Sarah Rushing, Ryan Caldwell and wife Carissa, and Amanda (Gomez) Hall and husband Franklin. He has 24 great grandchildren with 7 great great grandchildren.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 10th, 2021 from 12:00 PM-7:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Services to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, June 11th, 2021, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with his interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
