James E. Kelly passed away peacefully at the Oklahoma University Medical Center, ICU Covid-19 Unit on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the age of 85 years.
He was born on January 1, 1935, at home in McKees Rocks, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Edward J. Kelly, and Phyliss K. (Toutteney) Kelly. He grew up attending catholic school until his Junior year of high school, when he transferred to Langley High School graduating in 1953. After graduation, James enlisted in the United States Air Force, making career for 20 years retiring as Master Sargent James E Kelly.
In 1969, James reconnected with MaryJane McWilliams a girl he had known in high school. 1970 were married making home at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. James retired in 1973 and went on the begin college at Central State University, earning his master’s degree in accounting. They spent a wonderful 49 years together until her death in 2018. James and MaryJane were members of the Highland Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Phyliss Kelly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his wife MaryJane Kelly of Moore, Oklahoma, his brother in law, Joe Sokac, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Sokac, and her sons, Tony and Danny (Vickie) Sokac, his daughter Terri Stanley and husband Dr. Keith Stanley, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Son, Bruce Hindes and wife Silvia of Acworth Georgia, son Robin Walter Hindes, Pittsburgh, PA, Grandchildren, Christine Ford and husband Dr. Justin Ford, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Melissa Stanley of Long Beach California, Tamara Hindes and, Hoshu of Atlanta Georgia, Kayla Harwick, husband Will, of Atlanta Georgia, Dallas Hindes, Ryan Hindes, Jamie Hindes and Wife Tammy, of Pittsburgh PA, and Shawn Hindes and wife Di of New Jersey, as well as great grandchildren, Makenzie Ford Boatright and husband Dustin, Josh Ford of Edmond, OK, Austin Hindes, Brady Hindes, Arrianna and Morgan Hindes of Pittsburgh, Pa, Baby Shawn of Acworth Georgia as well as a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 1:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the Resthaven Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Justin Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens.
