James R Hankins

James Ray Hankins 81, of Oklahoma City went to be with the Lord August 19, 2018. He was born in Durant, OK to Cleo and Robert Hankins October 1, 1936. A member of the Church of The Firstborn, James loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church, traveling and camping in fellowship with church groups. James’ favorite hobby and where you were most likely to find him was golfing. He loved spending time with family and playing with his grandchildren. In his younger days, James honorably served from 1956-1961 in the United States Marine Corps. James was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Hankins; mother, Cleo Smith; sons, Michael Ray and James David Hankins; sister, Lilly Remy; brother, Robert Hankins, Jr; and grandson, Hunter Blake Hankins. He is survived by his Wife, Lora Lee Hankins; sons, Mike Sampson and wife Karen, Todd Hankins, Lance Hankins and wife Marie, Jason Hankins and wife Tabatha; sister, Theda Wise; brother, Robby Hankins; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services to celebrate James’ life will be 10:00am Thursday, August 23, 2018 in The Chapel at Resthaven. Visitation will begin Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2:00pm.
