August 14, 1935 ~ September 18, 2022 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Tribute

James “Jim” Eugene Doke entered his Heavenly home on September 18, 2022. He was born August 14, 1935 in Oklahoma City to James Arthur Doke and Jessie Pearl Rothner (Smith).

Jim grew up in Harrah and graduated from Harrah High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Carol Hester, on October 23, 1955. They were blessed with 67 years of a wonderful marriage. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1968.

Jim’s greatest passion in life was all things music. He served as a music director in a variety of different places including First Baptist Church of Newcastle. Jim truly enjoyed sharing his gift and love of music with anyone and everyone around him. In the past, he had been in vocal competitions and was able to compete with a number of talented individuals. Jim and his wife Carol raised their family to have the same love for music and it is something that they all enjoyed together over the years. He also enjoyed gardening and ceramics and he was an overall crafty man. He made special items over the years that are now family heirlooms to be cherished forever by his family. Above all, Jim adored his family. They were the light of his life and he just loved being with them.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, James Doke and Jessie Pearl Rothner; and his brother, Carrol Gene Doke.

Those left to continue his legacy include his loving wife, Carol Doke; children, James Bryan Doke and wife June, Carol Lynn White and husband Charles, and Hester Ann Fulton and husband David; grandson, Eli James Fulton; brother, Tom Doke and wife Karen; and sister, Jessie Marie Soper. Jim is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
