I met coach while playing for the Oklahoma Flyers for several seasons. The opportunity to play for this team provided a great opportunity to play with other women I had played against in college. It gave me a different perspective on the sport that I never would have considered and allowed me to build friendships with people I never would have before that. I do not know if Jack knew he was helping me in this way but I will always remember the those days.

Carter Family, I am so sad to hear of Jack's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I first met Coach at Lindsey All Star basketball camp when I was in Junior High, and boy did I ever want to play for him... but I lived in Jenks, so that wasn't happening. I enjoyed spending a week every summer with him on defense outside and him yelling at me. He is the reason I am a high school coach of 25 years. I also student taught in 1990 at Western Heights, and helped with the team. Those were wonderful memories with Tammy Powers. He was an amazing human being, I will be forever grateful for his support, love, and nurturing he gave me growing up. I am so honored to have known him and had the privilege of calling him my mentor and friend. Love always Courtney Phillips

Not sure of the exact year, but my cousin, Jackie, coached the Western Heights girls basketball team to a State Championship in the 1980s !! A great coach, a great baseball player, a great mathematician, a great educator, a great leader at Western Heights as assistant principal as well as in other areas at Western Heights, a great coach within the AAU league (girls either too old for college or have spent their post-college years on the court, a great cousin, a great husband-dad-granddad !!!!
