Jackie Kent Carter, 67, of Yukon, Oklahoma, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Jackie was born June 28, 1949 in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1967. He attended Murray State College on a baseball scholarship, receiving his associate’s degree. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree and later his Master’s Degree in Education from Central State University. In 1967 he met his wife, June, while playing for her father’s baseball team. They were married on January 22, 1971 and made their home in Oklahoma City where Jackie worked for 43 years at Western Heights High School. During his tenure at Western Heights he taught English, journalism and photography. He was also the girls head basketball coach, Asst. Principal and later the Athletic Director. He is survived by his wife June, son Darren Carter, of California, daughter Holly McLaughlin, of Edmond and two grandchildren, Braeden and Maddie McLaughlin. Jackie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elbert Lee Carter and Velma Christine Carter and one sister, Nancy Kay Carter. Services to celebrate Jack’s life will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 15, 2017 at The Chapel at Resthaven with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
