Harold M. Yoakum, 87, of Oklahoma City, Ok died on December 30, 2017 in Amarillo, TX. He was born on May 3, 1930 in Pauls Valley, OK to George Henry Yoakum and Mary Jewell Morrow. He grew up in Paoli, Ok where he worked with his parents and twelve brothers and sisters on the family farm. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1951with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon his college graduation, he served in the United States Air Force at Tinker Air Base during the Korean War. He married Val Deva Elaine O’Kelley on September 9, 1951 in Stillwater, OK. They had two children; Sherri and Wayne. Val Deva died on February 5, 1981. He married Pasquena “Pat” Reeder on March 5, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Pat died on November 14, 2017. Harold was a vocational agriculture teacher in Nash, OK and Guymon, Ok before he and Val Deva moved to Moore, Ok in July 1976 where he served as the vocational agriculture teacher for four years and then became the director of vocational programs until his retirement in 1993. He loved his Lord and served Him faithfully at First Baptist Church in Guymon, Ok as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He enjoyed working in his beautiful yard, reading the daily newspaper, playing dominoes, and listening to country music. His family remembers that most of all he loved to whistle, sing, and make up songs and rhymes. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Val Deva, his wife, Pasquena “Pat”, his parents, George and Mary Yoakum, eleven of his brothers and sisters, and his stepsons, Dick and Mike Reeder. He is survived by his daughter, Sherri Rasor and husband, Marty, of Amarillo, TX, his son, Harold Wayne Yoakum ,of Guymon, OK, stepdaughter, Pam Bozarth and husband, Tony, of Oklahoma City, OK, seven grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his sister, Reba Jo Gracey, of Hobbs, NM. The family would like to extend our thanks to Crystal and Kaitlyn for their loving care to Harold before he moved to Amarillo, TX. Graveside services to celebrate Harold’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
